Super Soul Sunday 53

We come together on The G-Listed every Sunday for a soulful tradition called Super Soul Sunday. It’s a celebration of music that moves the spirit and sets the tone for whatever the week might bring. Each week, I share a curated mixtape of house, soul, R&B, neo-soul, hip-hop, jazz, lo-fi, city pop, gospel, amapiano, or afrobeat—sounds that resonate as the perfect backdrop for workdays, winding down, or vibing with friends who share the same love for good music.

This isn’t just about music; it’s about creating a space where rhythms and melodies become the soundtrack to our lives. From uplifting gospel harmonies to the smooth grooves of neo-soul, these mixes bring the essence of joy, reflection, and connection into every moment. Whether you’re starting your day, relaxing with loved ones, or diving into creative pursuits, the tunes I share are here to complement your vibe.

This Sunday’s mixtape I’m sharing is by a YouTuber named Catman, who loves the R&B gems produced by the legendary duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis as much as I do. Jam & Lewis and their Flyte Tyme production company created the rhythms and melodies of the sexiest uptempo and midtempo jams that were grown and sexy enough for the Baby Boomers and cool enough for Gen X. Top ten and number one hits by S.O.S. Band, Alexander O’Neal, Janet Jackson, New Edition, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, Cherelle, Human League, and others were compiled by Catman in one smooth groovin’ playlist for those of us who enjoys music recorded by the aforementioned artists and produced by Jam & Lewis.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s mixtape and found something that resonates with your spirit. Music connects us, and I’m always curious to hear how these sounds landed with you. Your feedback means a lot, so don’t hesitate to share your thoughts—did a particular track stand out, or did the vibe remind you of something special?

If you have recommendations for similar music, I’d love to hear them! Connect with me on Twitter, or drop your suggestions in the comments section. Let’s keep the conversation going and discover more fantastic music together. After all, Super Soul Sunday is as much about sharing as it is about connecting with a community of music lovers like you.
